Magnolia Run


7th Annual Magnolia Run was held Saturday, April 10, 2010

Location: Jesse's Restaurant,
14770 Oak St., Magnolia Springs, AL
Time: Shotgun start is at 8 a.m.

Jon Bowie of Daphne and Anna Hallex of Gulf Shores earned the title of Overall Male and Female 5K Race winners at the 7th Annual Magnolia Run presented by the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, April 10 in Magnolia Springs. Bowie has been the Overall Male 5K race winner every year the Magnolia Run has been held. Hallex has placed as a top runner in past races and will run in the upcoming Boston Marathon.

 

The weather was picture perfect as more than 200 runners and walkers of all ages took to the streets in the 5K Race, 5K Race/Walk, and 1 mile Fun Run through the picturesque Town of Magnolia Springs. Dr. Art Holmes of Foley again served as the events race director.

 

Runners enjoyed a post race party with music provided by Jerry Byrd and red beans & rice provided by Jesse’s Restaurant. The Orthopaedic Group and South Baldwin Regional Medical Center were the Presenting Sponsors for the event. Other sponsors included Medi-Stat RX, Kaiser Realty, United Bank, Magnolia Springs Pharmacy, Optera Creative/Identity Solutions, and Jesse’s Restaurant.

Course Details

Race will begin at the corner of County Road 49/Magnolia Springs Highway and Oak Street. Proceed west down Oak Street turning right onto Woodland Drive, proceed to the end of Woodland Drive, turn left onto Pecan Grove Street. Proceed up Pecan Grove Street to Live Oak Ave./Short St. Proceed down Live Oak Ave./Short St. to dead end. Make turn around and follow the same course back to the finish line!

7th Annual Magnolia Run Overall 5K Male Winner, Jon Bowie of Daphne

Overall 5K Female Winner, Anna Hallex of Gulf Shores receives her award from Race Director, Dr. Art Holmes.

 

The Magnolia Run is a 5K Run/RaceWalk and 1 Mile Fun Run.  The run begins at Jesse's Restaurant, 14770 Oak Street in Magnolia Springs, AL. The course follows a beautiful scenic route with majestic oak branch canopies overhanging the road, lovely azaleas, flowering plants and historic homes. Awards are presented for all age groups and post-race activities for the runners include music, food, beverages and door prizes. This course is USATF certified 5-K #AL05017JD.
