South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce President, Donna Watts, announced Tom Boggs, Plant Manager with Ascend Performance Materials in Foley as Chairman of the Chamber’s 5th annual Chamber Choices Campaign.

“Ascend / Solutia has always been involved with the Chamber and I am the third plant manager from our site to serve on the board of directors.  However, it wasn’t until last year that I became aware of the Chamber Choices campaign.  This is a game changer for our community,” declared Boggs, “I didn’t realize the critical importance of this program. It gives our businesses exposure at a time that our economy needs it the most.”

Boggs continues “I am totally sold on the idea of the Chamber Choices Campaign.  It works because it allows businesses to plan their level of investment.  For companies like mine, it gives us a chance to plan and to budget for our level of commitment. The program offers a variety of options for sponsorships, visibility, and an opportunity to support a cause that strengthens our community.”

“I’m excited about this year’s campaign and I am deeply honored to have been asked to serve,” Boggs said.  We have a great group of team captains this year and I am very grateful to them for their continued support.  Herb Malone, the chairman from last year, probably gave me the best advice – ‘be a great cheerleader, do what the Chamber Staff tells you to do and you’ll do fine.’  Boggs continues, “Falling back on my military experience, I can’t think of a better plan of action!”

Chamber Choices is an eight-week all volunteer campaign that secures financial resources and sponsorships for the South Baldwin Chamber and Chamber Foundation’s programs, events, publications and electronic media as well as recruits new members.

Members will have the opportunity to brand and promote their business through these opportunities which in turn will give them increased name recognition within our community.  A recent national study by The Shapiro Group found that when consumers know that a small business is a member of the chamber of commerce, they are 44% more likely to think favorably of it and 63% more likely to purchase goods or services from the company in the future.  Keep your business’ name at the top of the list by sponsoring a Chamber program or event.

Team Captains for the upcoming campaign are Lilia Mothershed, First National Bank of Baldwin County; Matt Fetner, Bryant Bank; Ray Belew, The Master’s Butler; Tommy Lee, Vulcan, Inc.; Michelle Nelson, Meyer Vacation Rentals; Dr. Samantha Graber, Align Chiropractic; Leslie Costigan, Long’s Human Resource Service; Sarah Green, Staybridge Suites; Beth Arp; Jim Griffiths, LegalSheild; Dee Beisel, Heartland Payment Systems.

Congratulations to Tom! We are all very proud of the activities that Ascend gets involved with in our community. Tom and the other leaders seek out ventures and are always willing to step up to the plate and get involved and that is the key!
