The South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce will host a Political Forum for the Town of Elberta on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Elberta Town Hall. All qualified candidates in the race for Mayor and Town Council of Elberta have been invited to participate. Bradley Byrne, former State Senator, Chancellor and Gubernatorial candidate will serve as the Moderator for the event.
The purpose of the forum is to provide the citizens of Elberta an opportunity to meet mayoral and town council candidates for the upcoming elections. Members of the community will have an opportunity to ask questions of the candidates. Attendees will be given index cards as they arrive and written questions will be turned in and reviewed by a panel for appropriateness of the question before being passed to the moderator for the question to be asked. Prior to the event, questions can be submitted to the attention of Donna Watts by fax (251-943-6810).
Each candidate will be allowed to present an opening and closing statement. Time limits will be observed in order to maintain the two hour timeframe set for the forum. For those unable to attend the event, the forum will air live on WHEP 1310 AM/92.5 FM, Riviera Cable Channel 7 and on WHEP’s website www.whep1310.com.
