Ribbon-cutting for New Life Community Development

Posted August 18, 2012

The South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon-cutting dedication for New Life Community Development located at 211 N. Cedar Street in Foley.

Bishop Edwin Jeffres of New Beginnings Christian Center is founding Director of the facility and has implemented New Ventures Youth Leadership Mentoring Program. New Venture’s mission is to provide at-risk students in grades 6 – 12 with self-confidence, academic achievement, entrepreneurial talents, leadership skills, spiritual enrichment, and a passion for community service.

This mission will primarily be accomplished by each participant receiving one-on-one mentoring with hands on experience and use of workshops from adults who exhibit the program’s core values in the community, then meet once a month as a group, usually on a Saturday morning. Successful completion of the program prepares these students to be productive and prosperous citizens.

In order to participate in the program, students must be a resident of Baldwin County, attend school in Baldwin County, grades 6 – 12 and be committed to the program and its goals. For more on program goals, activities, to volunteer or donate, contact Bishop Edwin Jeffres at (251) 943 – 5733 or email at nlcd_cdc@yahoo.com.
