Darlene Staimpel, Associate Admissions Representative for Fortis College, was named South Baldwin Chamber Diplomat of the Month for August 2012.
Darlene began serving as diplomat in May, 2012. Being a Diplomat offers many rewards both personally and professionally. “I enjoy participating in multiple events that give back to the community where I work and live”.
Darlene has been with Fortis College since 2009. “I love working with Fortis College”. We cater to both traditional and non-traditional students. Fortis not only offers students the coursework for learning the career skills needed, we also help place students into working externships to gain real world experience as part of their education. Fortis College currently offers three programs at the Foley campus including Medical Assisting, Medical Office Administration, and Heating, Ventilation, Air conditioning & Refrigeration.
Community involvement is very important for Fortis College. We are always doing something to get involved in the community. Most recently Darlene volunteered at the Beverage and Souvenir tent for the Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival hosted by the Chamber in June. Darlene is a mother of a 7 year old son, John Lumpkin, and a 5 year old daughter, Mary Kate Lumpkin. She enjoys cooking and any outdoor activity (especially at the beach) and sharing great memories and laughter with her friends and family including boyfriend, Justin Crowder.
Being a Diplomat is a tremendous opportunity to volunteer your time, get to know your business community and promote your business while representing the chamber.
