Chamber News: Five Ways Foley Sports Tourism Benefits Your Business

Posted May 29, 2017

Foley Sports Tourism has become a powerful force in a very short time. We’re excited about the events, the visitors and the opportunities this South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce member brings our way.

How might this organization benefit you? Let’s take a look!

1 - Increased numbers. The influx of athletes using the Foley Sports Tourism Complex and other venues is easy to understand. But don’t forget that many of these athletes bring family, friends, coaches and fans to their events. With so many more people in the area, your numbers are bound to show an increase.

2 - A new type of visitor. Unlike the laid-back folks taking their time during a relaxing week-long vacation, many of the sports guests are in high-energy mode and only here for a short time. They will challenge you to become more efficient and more diverse in your products, services and customer service. Rise to the challenge and your business will be better for it.

3 - Marketing opportunities. Events rely on sponsors. Get your name in front of those involved in the action, based on the age ranges most likely to be interested in your business. With tournaments ranging from youth baseball to cornhole competition at all age levels to K-9 championships, there is a market for all ages and interests.

4 - Volunteerism. Gather a team from your business to work an event – or several – and the rewards will follow. When you let the community know you are involved, your name stays in the forefront. Next time someone is looking for what you have to offer, they remember and they call on you. And the bonus: Camaraderie and informal team-building outside your company walls help to shape a stronger staff!

5 - Business services. What can you offer to the complex or the administrative offices in terms of supplies, care and more? Investigate your potential as a direct vendor or as a supplier to a direct vendor. It may bring an upswing to your bottom line.

As the saying goes, we’re all in this together. Talk to your customers and vendors about Foley Sports Tourism and the sports complex. Be visible at events. Plant those seeds of familiarity and you’ll soon enjoy an expanded client base.
