The Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center - get to know Dr. William Garretson, D.O. FACOS, Medical Director
Dr. William Garretson began his journey with the wound care center when the clinic opened in January 2013. As a General and Vascular Surgeon Dr. Garretson was familiar with wound care, but by learning the systems and protocols available today and through Healogics, Inc. he has learned more than anything about the multiple specialties involved in wound care. What you might not know about Dr. Garretson is that he was born and raised in Austin, Texas moving to Baldwin County in 1989. When not at the wound care center Dr. Garretson enjoys spending time with his family who includes his mom, wife and three sons.
His hobbies are many, but he most enjoys sailing, reading and gardening. When asked where has been the most exciting place he has traveled, Dr. Garretson says “my days of backpacking have taken me through parts of the Appalachian Trail during my early 20’s and to parts of the Pacific Crest Trail on my honeymoon.” Throughout his career Dr. Garretson has come full circle. He started out in General Practice then specialized in General Surgery moving to subspecializing in Vascular Surgery to now considering himself a generalist again, but in the specialty of wound care and subspecialty of hyperbaric medicine.
He considers his patients “family” and a cause for celebration when their wounds heal. Especially those who have endured their wounds for 15+ years that have healed and remained healed. That is what makes Dr. Garretson proud of the outstanding results seen from The Wound Care & Hyperbaric Oxygen Center.
