“How South Baldwin’s Nonprofits Are Working Together for Greater Impact”
In South Baldwin, nonprofits aren’t just serving—they’re collaborating. From food pantries to education programs and arts organizations, local nonprofit leaders are finding strength in unity. That’s why we started meeting regularly: to support one another, share ideas, and multiply our collective impact across the community.
We are the HOPE Group—Helping Organizations Partner Effectively.
Why We Came Together
Running a nonprofit is deeply rewarding—but let’s be honest, it can also be overwhelming. From grants and staffing to volunteers, fundraising, and outreach, the to-do list never ends. Instead of working in silos, we chose to come together—around the same table—to talk about what’s working, what’s not, and what we can build together.
“I didn’t realize how many of our challenges were shared until I heard someone else say exactly what I was feeling.” — local nonprofit leader
Today, HOPE includes over 70 nonprofit members of the South Baldwin Chamber, with 12 members serving on our Steering Committee as part of our Impact Team.
What We’re Doing
We’re not building a new organization—we’re building a support network. Our informal gatherings create space to:
- Share ideas and resources
- Learn more about each other’s missions
- Plan partnerships and joint events
- Reduce duplication and increase efficiency
- Advocate collectively for the needs of South Baldwin County
HOPE groups represent a wide range of service areas:
- Social Services
- Healthcare & Mental Health
- Education
- Family Services
- Animal & Environmental
- The HUB (for nonprofits that don’t neatly fit into another category)
- Veterans Services
What We’ve Learned So Far
Even after just a few meetings, we’ve already:
- Uncovered new grant opportunities
- Identified collaboration possibilities across similar missions
- Built a sense of support and encouragement knowing we’re not alone in this work
